Demand Corrections Corporation of America Take Back Its Offer

Corrections Corporation of America offered to buy prisons from cash strapped states  (48 states) – if they promise to keep the prisons 90% full for 20 years. Incarceration for profit is just plain wrong. Making a business from other people’s suffering is wrong. But demanding that states guarantee that their prisons are full crosses the line.

Across the country, crime rates are falling and have been falling for years. So where will these 90% full prisons the CCA demands come from? By continuing to wage failing drug wars in poor communities and by locking up more and more people of color.

Join Ella Baker Center in calling on the Corrections Corporation of America to immediately remove the 90% requirement from any offers or contracts.  Click on the link below and sign the petition.

Don’t sell your children and friends out so these corporations and those in state power can make profit from them!
