My name is Gloria Wells. In 2008 and in 2009, I, along with 33 other Bozeman citizens were arrested for distribution of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs, and an assortment of whatever charges the Missouri River Drug Task Force decided to trump up. Out of us 33, the bond charged for the arrests ranged from $250,000.00 (mine only, the highest) to $3000.00, and totaled over 1 million dollars. Yes 1 Million dollars was charged for bond, out of that price mine alone was $325,000.00, approximately one-third of the total bond was mine. Out of 33 individuals I alone held one-third of the total bond……I want to say right from the start I have never denied being a drug user. I gave presentation at many seminars and gatherings regarding drug use. I was on the front page of the Helena Newspaper when I gave presentation on the Montana Meth Project, admitting my use.
What I never have been and never will be is the drug King Pin of Gallatin County as described by the law enforcement to the Bozeman Chronicle. I was held in the Gallatin County jail for 13 months, while the cops allowed my home to be robbed, my automobiles to be stolen, and my artwork ripped off. The pawn shops are full of my belongings and they said I gave permission for that to happen. I lost 170 thousand dollars worth of equity in one of my rentals, due to my not being able to make payments.
After they held me for 13 months, the Judge dismissed the charges due to the prosecuting attorneys’ failure to produce the discovery we had been requesting all along, (lack of speedy trial.) It is against the law to be held on a bond that one cannot afford. On three different occasions when I was speaking to individuals to help me with bond those people received calls from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Deputies and the jailers, who told the people not to assist me in any manner or” They would not be in good standing with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department.” Can I prove this you betcha!
I was forced to deal with guards who told me they were going to wipe their ass with my pills and then make me eat them. I have copies of the complaints I wrote on the jailer who said it. I was forced to strip searches by a guard who made me do this in front of male guards. Can I prove this you betcha!
The door of my cell was opened by male jailers when I was going to the bathroom and when I tried to pull the door shut so I could finish before they handed me my breakfast they jerked the door even wider to expose me to others. Can I prove this you betcha!
Now I am out and in my home I have been followed by the cops, ignored by the cops, my home
continually broken into, and they refuse to take theft reports of property that is being stolen from the Huffine Family, because they say it is not my property. Can I prove this you betcha!
I have been ordered off property I have paid taxes on since 1998 by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, which is overstepping their limits, and I have been arrested for locking the gate so the Huffines’ personal property would not be stolen. To no avail.
I have filed over 75 reports of stolen property of the Huffines’ and the cops refuse to do anything about it, or do a follow-up. My civil rights have been so violated by the good old boys system and it reaches all the way to the Governor.
By the newspaper reports the law has defined me. I cannot get an attorney to represent me as to do so would be social taboo.
I would not write this if I could not prove this. I have filed a civil rights lawsuit under 42, USC 1983. I have filed a lawsuit against two Judges for the violation of civil rights also.
I am a student at MSU and have been approved to work as a volunteer at the Montana State Prison, yet the stigma remains.,,,,,and I , I am the lucky one, they sentenced Eldon Huffine to 30 years in prison for violation of a restraining order….misdemeanors….30 years….CODE OF THE WEST.

You lost me at the point you claim no lawyer will represent you. I know several lawyers that like nothing more than a good fight with the status quo. My experience has been that when someone can’t find an attorney to represent them it is because they have an unwinnable case, and are unwilling to be realistic about their situation. Good luck to you, though…. the system is intentionally designed to grind up anyone targeted by LE and/or any prosecutor.
Actually lefty the cowboy I have spoken to many lawyers since researching all of this and no firm, let alone an attorney wants to take on cases that they know is dealing with corruption. It’s a loss situation for them and they know it.
That is what this website is dedicated too, to bring voices together so the MT public will know what is going on!! It is hard for one person to bring about change but a multitude can change the world!
For Code Of The West that is a pretty stiff sentence for a misdemeanor, 30 years.
I have no reason to lie, mejustice. You can validate this information by looking up Eldon Huffine on the Montana , Government website, mt.gov and go to inmates incarcerated. I believe they show all of the info there, if not call Deer Lodge. It is public information.

I was not meaning that you would lie…I was meaning that is a very stiff sentence for a misdemeanor…that’s all. Yes, we have tried to get in contact with you but nothing would go through.
Who can help Eldon’s birth-daughter?? This Gloria Wells tried to get me to Montana (I live in NY) I was ready to help a man that I have only written a few letters with…WHEN I see that there was a drug bust on my fathers property. What the hell has happened here??? Should I help (I have been told by a few I am only kin to Eldon) or do I just walk away??
Jenn, I can’t answer that. There is a lot of researching that has to be done in each of these cases. The best thing to do is start getting the documentation and start reading it.
Jenn, you have my address, it is I that could not find you. The last address I had my mail was returned, your phone disconnected. No there was not a drug bust on the property, or I would be locked up right now. Look at my attempts to try to contact you and get you out here. You are not the only kin to your father, your Grandmother is still alive. The attorneys who are supposedly working for her are working against her, it is all about this land.
After your grandfather died Eldon was apponited as Personal Representative to his Estate. The courts took away that right and appointed their Clerk of Court Lorraine Van Ausdol who rejected everything your father tried to file. She was suppose to pay the taxes on this property, she was suppose to locate all money owed your grandfather she did not do her duties as Personal Representative. Your father has been falsely charged just as I was, if you do not believe me write to your dad at the Deer Lodge Prison and ask him. In the meantime, before you jump to conclusions,take a minute and reflect on who has been in contact with you from the start.
The county put your Grandmother in an old folks home and put her on Medicaid, which she never has qualified. The director of the home quit that job and became your grandmothers Conservator.
I finally got him to quit and what does the court do? They appoint Lorraine VanAusdol, the same one who failed to follow the law with your grandfathers Estate. I have uncovered numerous wrongs to the courts and all of them here have rejected my complaints. Lorraine and her attorney, both of whom I believe will eventually be exposed, have allowed thousands of dollars of your grandparents personal property to be stolen. I have filed over 50 reports to the Sheriff’s department here and they will not even call me back. A couple of months ago I placed a lock on the gate so as to try to protect the remainder of personal property, I was quickly arrested for disorderly conduct, for trying to protect your family’s belongings, so before you jump to conclusions, think. I go to court on Monday. It would be nice to have your mailing address so I could at least catch you up if I am again incarcerated.
Furthermore, had I not paid the taxes, as the Personal Representative was suppose to do, the property would be long gone.

Wow, I see there is family. Okay. This corruption keeps getting worse and worse. What kind of school did all of these people go too, to learn such behavior? Certainly hope everything turns out okay with your court hearing.
Court today was a joke. My attorney after reading the “discovery” said he became more mad as he read. He suggested a jury trial after the county attorney’s office offered me six months probation and 10 days in jail, jail time suspended. What a total waste of tax payers money and court time for locking a gate to prevent theft. We are going to trial by jury for a misdemeanor ticket that should never have been written in the first place.
Yet when I call the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department for protection of the Huffine’s personal property they refuse to respond. They will not even call back on a report of theft I have written probably because the Personal Representative for the Estate of Lewis Huffine did not take an inventory of the assets of the Estate in the first place, therefore she cannot be held accountable, after all she is the ex-clerk of court.
To further my dilema, I filed a complaint against her and the attorney in the Estate of Lewis Huffine for breech of fiduciary duties in all three District Courts, only to have them all dismissed. Sarah Huffine is 92 years old, and Eldon has been sentenced to thirty years in prison for violation of a restraining order so who is there to monitor their actions?
They have placed Sarah Huffine on medicaid, and she has never qualified for that program as the property along with all the farm equipment, combines, swathers, drills, planters, seven autos, at least four trucks, have been in her name since Lewis died in 1991. Now they have placed a 300 thousand dollar lein against the property. The onion just tends to smell a little worse with every lawyer removed. A slip I think I meant layer!
I have reported to the courts the following of what I believe to be improper actions by the Personal Representative and the Attorney for the Estate of Lewis Huffine.
1. No inventory was taken of the assets of the Estate of Lewis Huffine or Sarah Huffine.
2, Money was paid out to debts not owed by Lewis Huffine.
3. The personal representative for the Estate of Lewis Huffine never paid the taxes, in fact she never set foot on the property, per her attorney Jane Mersen until 15 years after Lewis’ death.
4. Assets of Eldon Huffine, Sarah Huffine and Lewis Huffine were allowed to be sold without a fair market value given. This was a loss to the Huffine’s of well over $200,000.00.
5. Conservators for Sarah Huffine gave away an easement on the property.
6. Conservators for Sarah Huffine gave away a 1948 Ford farm truck in mint condition.
7. The Attorney for the Estate of Lewis Huffine, Jane Mersen hired attorney James McLean to represent Sarah Huffine against Attorney for the Estate of Lewis Huffine Jane Mersen.
8. The Attorney for the Estate of Lewis Huffine transfered property to the Conservators, (John Heintz and Bill Wise dba Walking Cross) of Sarah Huffine, and the property has been in Sarah’s name since 1991.
9. John Heintz was the director of the nursing home in which Sarah was placed. He quit and became her Conservator.
10. One acre of the 193 (approx..) acres sold for $125,000.00. Eldon has repeatedly requested an accounting of that money and he has been refused by the courts everytime.
11. A permanment injunction was placed against Eldon and I and we were not informed of that hearing until one month after it was held.
12. Medicaid fraud has been committed by placing Sarah on that program.
13. Elder abuse has taken place by selling/giving away her assets at a unfair market value.
14. Eldon Huffine has been denied access to the courts and his Motions filings returned to him unopened by Lorraine Van Ausdol then clerk of court, then Personal Representative for the Estate of Lewis Huffine, now Personal Representative for the Estate of Sarah Huffine. GO FIGURE!

So being that I was adopted doesn’t that mean that I really cannot interfere? Gloria sorry to accuse but I did read about 33 being arrested. I was so close to coming out there then I read that, I was devistated. Eldon never wanted to acknowledge that I was alive and after 30 years I somewhat gave up on ever meeting him and then I hear of this..what am I supposed to think?? Wild west- I have lived in NY since I was 2 years old. Tell me what help you need and maybe I can help. As for the people & courts that have done this family wrong…they have it coming!
Maybe you two really need to have a heart to heart talk. Sounds like a lot of major stuff and from where she is from New York, although that is a large bustling city, this does sound much like the wild, wild west. It sounds like it all would be nerve wracking. But there is power in numbers, the more you have to back each other up the better it is. United States Department of Justice is going to be investigating other issues maybe they will continue to look into other allegations of wrong doing within the state.
Jenn, please get ahold of me. You can help because you are family. I will send to you all of the filings I have Motioned the court. A complaint against the personal representative on the handling the Estate of your grandfather, I have filed a complaint against the conservators for the manner which they have treated you grandmother, I have filed a complaint against the attorney Jane Mersen for using your Grandfathers to pay for debts he did nt owe, to no avail. The Judges have denied me every motion and Eldon is not allowed to place anything through the courts. It is against his civil rights to not have access to the court system. So with me in jail, Eldon in prison and your Grandmother in the nursing home, who was there to keep an eye on things? No one. God works in mysterious ways Jenn, and when the Human world treats an individual badly, the Spirit world takes over. I really believe that.
It was a Godsend to find you again, and I will come up with the money to move you out here until you/we can get things straightened out.

I have been looking for an Eldon Huffine who I met in Los Angeles in approx 1969 in the winter. I was working at an LA bank as Santa’s Daughter and Eldon told me what he wanted for Christmas. He was from Bozeman, MT and wrote to me for a while after he returned home. I was about 20 years old when we met. Thank you for any information. mribble@csusm.edu

Haven’t heard anything from you Gloria…”Dad” (Eldon) wrote me quite a few lengthy letters though…Why was there an auction on the “family” property that you gave the OK to even though he said no- he was upset about that…WHO do I need to contact regarding ANY property from Huffine?? It really sounds like people who don’t have anything to do with this keep butting in like its their business, seems difficult to realize who is in it for the “right” reasons. Still trying to figure this out…

Hello Jenn. I’m not sure I have the right person, but I was remembering and Eldon Huffine who I met in Los Angeles. He visited me once in Whittier, CA, and we wrote letters. This would have been 1969 or 1970. I would be great to find out if this is the same man. I wish you sucess in settling your family concerns. Best wishes, Marilyn
